Mozilla Browser for BSD/OS
This page has links to various release versions of the Mozilla browser.
Normally, you would want to get this software from the Mozilla ftp server. In
some rare cases, you might need to grab a release from this server.
- Version
1.2.1
- This is a build of the release for the Mozilla browser, version
1.2.1. A detailed README file that discusses how it was built is
also available. No additional libraries need to be installed to run
this version of the browser. A compiled form of the browser is
available for both the sparc and x86 architecture machines running
BSD/OS 4.2. Currently the only available build for BSD/OS 4.3 is for
x86 computers.
Version
1.2beta
- This is a build of the release for the Mozilla browser, version
1.2.beta.
Given this is an beta release, users should be aware
that features might be broken or sub-optimal in areas of the browser
that are undergoing development.
Version
1.2alpha
- This is a build of the release for the Mozilla browser, version
1.2.alpha.
Given this is an alpha release, users should be aware
that features might be broken or sub-optimal in areas of the browser
that are undergoing development.
Version 1.1
- This is a build of the official release for the Mozilla browser,
version 1.1. A detailed README file that discusses how it was built, as
well as a few known problems, is also available. No additional
libraries need to be installed to run this version of the browser.
Builds for BSD/OS 4.2 on both sparc and x86 machines are available. A
build for BSD/OS 4.3 on x86 machines is also available.
Version 1.0.1
- This is a build of the official release for the Mozilla browser,
version 1.0.1. A detailed README file that discusses how it was built,
as well as a few known problems, is also available. No additional
libraries need to be installed to run this version of the browser.
Builds for BSD/OS 4.2 on both sparc and x86 machines are available. A
build for BSD/OS 4.3 on x86 machines is also available. This release is
expected to be extremely stable -- it has over 650 bugs fixed relative
to the 1.0 release, and no new features added. Users and system
administrators are strongly urged to upgrade to 1.0.1 if they are
running any older Mozilla release.
Historical Versions of Mozilla
I have moved the archive of older versions of the Mozilla Browser
offline, to conserve disk space. Nobody should be using a version of
Mozilla older than the 1.0.1 release -- previous versions have noticeably
inferior performance and many more bugs. If you are running an older
version of the browser, do yourself a favor and upgrade to at least
version 1.0.1. If you receive some perverse pleasure in reading old
software bug reports and building notes, the original notes (but not the binaries) are
available for various older releases.
